"Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way".

a few words about counselling:
Counselling is not an easy journey to undertake. Counselling (especially long term therapy) involves revisiting and reliving past mistakes and heartaches.
Persistent and continuous denial serves only one purpose, to keep us trapped into destructive patterns of behaviours, behaviours that have been handed down from generation to generation.
Negative and abusive behaviours are not in our DNA. We do not inherit tendencies to deceive, manipulate and to injure those we love the most.
We are taught these harmful behaviours and we are (generally) taught them with genuine love and a true belief that we are doing no harm.
But we DO cause harm, we harm ourselves and we harm our children, just as we were harmed by our parents. Unintentional harm still hurts and damages.
By taking responsibility of our own actions and weakness, we give others around us, especially our children, permission to do the same.
This is how generational patterns of negative behaviours and destructive patterns of abuse are finally stopped and you will see...there is a different way to be.
